About Mina Rashid
Mina Rashid is the waterfront district taking shape around Port Rashid, the man-made port on Dubai's north-central coast, in the Bur Dubai sector of the city. Opened in 1972 and carrying the name of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Port Rashid was the city's first commercial port. In 2018 its cargo traffic was transferred to Jebel Ali Port, and the site now serves as a cruise terminal, a seafront destination and a residential area. The port is also the permanent home of the Queen Elizabeth 2: the former Cunard liner arrived in November 2008 and reopened as a floating hotel in April 2018. Dubai Maritime City and Dubai Drydocks lie beside the port. Emaar, working with DP World, launched its Sirdhana apartments here and more projects have followed, giving buyers a sea-facing option close to the historic centre.
