About Zayed City
Zayed City is a large planned district in the Abu Dhabi metropolitan region, previously known as the Abu Dhabi Capital District. Its site lies on the mainland about 7 km inland, south of Abu Dhabi island, between Mohammed Bin Zayed City and Zayed International Airport. The district covers around 4,900 hectares and was conceived under Abu Dhabi's Plan 2030 as a second downtown for the capital, intended to house the seat of the UAE federal government along with Abu Dhabi government bodies. Those plans date back to around 2009, so the timing and final shape of the project may have changed since. It should not be confused with Madinat Zayed, the town in the Al Dhafra region. Zayed City may suit buyers who want a mainland address near the airport, such as professionals working in the area.
Zayed City's site lies between Mohammed Bin Zayed City and Zayed International Airport, the hub of Etihad Airways, which opened its new Terminal A in October 2023.
