Who is DAMAC Properties?
DAMAC Properties is a Dubai-based developer founded in 2002 by Hussain Sajwani, who is its chairman.
The company listed on the Dubai Financial Market in 2015 and was delisted in 2022 after Sajwani, who already held a majority of the shares, bought the remainder, so DAMAC Properties is now privately held. That matters to buyers in one practical way: it no longer publishes results as a listed company, so project-level checks through the DLD carry more weight.
In a 2026 announcement, DAMAC said it had delivered more than 50,000 units since its founding, with more than 54,000 units under construction, and that it was handing over 8,800 residential units across Dubai in 2026. Forbes Middle East reports that the company has projects in more than 15 countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the UK and the US.
These are the developer's own figures and press reports; the DLD's project status tracking is the independent check for any single project.
Master communities and notable projects
DAMAC builds large master-planned communities as well as apartment towers. The projects named in its 2026 handover announcement were DAMAC Hills, DAMAC Hills 2, DAMAC Lagoons, Chic Tower and Elegance Tower.
- DAMAC Hills: a golf community near Dubai Studio City and Arabian Ranches, originally launched as Akoya by DAMAC and built around the Trump International Golf Club.
- DAMAC Hills 2: a separate community, also named in DAMAC's 2026 handover announcement.
- DAMAC Lagoons: a master-planned community near DAMAC Hills, inspired by Mediterranean coastal themes.

Brand partnerships are a recurring feature. The company's own boilerplate names Roberto Cavalli, de GRISOGONO, Chelsea Football Club and Oracle Red Bull Racing among its partners, and Safa One was developed in collaboration with de GRISOGONO. What buyers look at in a DAMAC launch
DAMAC buyers usually weigh the community stage, the brand partnership and the payment schedule. In large communities such as DAMAC Lagoons or DAMAC Hills 2, the cluster you buy into, and how much of the surrounding infrastructure is finished, shapes day-to-day living after handover.
- Branding: ask exactly what the brand partnership covers (interiors, amenities, operations) and whether it is written into the SPA or only into marketing material.
- Payment schedule: instalments and any post-handover portion are set per project. Compare options with our off-plan payment calculator and our guide to post-handover payment plans.
- Anticipated completion date: read the completion and extension clauses in the SPA.
- Running costs: ask for expected service charges, especially in communities with extensive landscaping, lagoons or golf.
- Letting plans: check likely returns with our rental yield calculator.
How to check a DAMAC project's registration
Before paying a deposit on any DAMAC launch, confirm three things: the project is registered with the Dubai Land Department (DLD), it has a dedicated escrow account, and your purchase will be recorded in the interim register through Oqood. These checks apply to every developer, however well known.
Under Law No. (8) of 2007, a developer must be entered in the Register of Real Estate Developers, must apply to open an escrow account before selling units off-plan, and needs written DLD authorisation before advertising off-plan sales. Buyer payments go into that project account.
Under Law No. (13) of 2008, an off-plan sale that is not entered in the Interim Property Register is void. The developer registers the sale on the DLD Oqood portal and a provisional registration e-certificate is issued by email.
- Ask for the project's DLD project number and the escrow bank and account details, and check that they match the sale and purchase agreement (SPA).
- Track construction progress on the DLD website or smart app by entering the plot number, project number or project name, as the DLD FAQ explains. The same FAQ states that a new project can be launched or announced only after all registration procedures are complete and an accreditation certificate has been obtained.
- Pay only into the escrow account named in the SPA.
