Tessera is a residential building by Al Ghurair Development, designed by Aires Mateus, the Lisbon practice run since 1988 by Manuel Aires Mateus and his brother Francisco. Their approach starts from removal: volumes are cut away and voids opened so the block appears to float above landscaped ground.
The building rises a ground floor and four upper levels, topped by a roof deck. The idea borrows from townhouse living in a low-density setting, aiming for privacy and plenty of daylight. Tessera is in pre-sale and construction has not yet started.
