About Uptown Dubai
Uptown Dubai is a mixed-use district in Dubai, created by DMCC (the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre) right next to Jumeirah Lakes Towers. DMCC announced the project in 2017 as its next step beyond JLT, and the first landmark, the supertall Uptown Tower, was finished in 2023. The tower brings together Grade A offices, apartments and the SO/ Uptown Dubai hotel, which Accor operates, and its glass façade was designed with the facets of a diamond in mind, a nod to Dubai's role in the diamond trade. The rest of the masterplan is still taking shape. The Plaza, an open-air events space, opened in February 2026, and more office towers are on the way. Uptown Dubai appeals to professionals who work in the DMCC free zone, and to buyers who want a newer address on the edge of the established JLT neighbourhood.
Getting around Uptown Dubai is helped by its neighbour: Jumeirah Lakes Towers has two Red Line metro stations, DMCC and Sobha Realty. DMCC has also said that One Uptown Place and Two Uptown Place, its next two office towers, will include a dedicated shuttle link to the metro. Food and drink start at the foot of Uptown Tower, where The Atrium dining and retail precinct sits, and restaurants such as Sur Dubai, The Citronelle Club, Brasserie Uptown and Uptown Social are within walking distance. The JLT clusters add plenty more, with Spice Deli Restaurant and Wildflower Poke & More nearby. For fresh air, JLT has three artificial lakes and a 55,000 square metre park, and the Jumeirah Island Pavilion is about 1 km away. Business visitors are well served too: the Almas Conference Centre is about 2 km from the district.
